Samsung partnered with OPTAGE to build private 5G network in Japan
Samsung has officially announced its cooperation with Japanese service provider OPTAGE Inc. to develop a dedicated 5G private network and deploy real-time video surveillance systems in factory facilities.
Samsung said that this private 5G network will support real-time streaming video based on 4K Ultra HD, which is transmitted through multiple devices, including cameras throughout the factory.
The video will be transmitted to the remote maintenance system, which will be used for on-site inspections at the control center. This will also eliminate the need for technicians to be off the beaten track and allow early detection of faults.

In addition, the Korean technology giant will provide an end-to-end 5G solution (including its latest radio, baseband unit, and Compact Core) to provide a flexible backbone for the factory’s private network.
Samsung’s cloud-native and fully containerized compact core is designed to provide enterprises with an advanced 5G core solution that can run on single server hardware and is an ideal choice for deployment environments with limited resources and space.
Satoshi Iwao, Vice President and Head of Network Division at Samsung Electronics Japan said that “Samsung is proud to leverage our private 5G network solutions to provide a solid foundation for new 5G use cases and services, boosting productivity and safety for various enterprises.”
