Dynamic Theming was the most prominent change that Samsung brought to its Galaxy devices with One UI 4 on top of Android 12 OS. The feature lets customers select a color palette to customize their phone with different colors based on the wallpaper and it applies to menus, buttons, backgrounds, and apps throughout their phone.
The One UI 5.0 Beta builds are here and they reveal that Samsung has significantly worked on improving the Dynamic Theming for Galaxy users. However, these improvements are not as good as they should be and Samsung still needs to work on its Dynamic Theming feature.

One UI 5.0 Dynamic Theming:
One UI 5.0 brings major changes to the Wallpapers and Styles section of Galaxy devices. The color picker sampler now provides users with 16 wallpaper color combinations – aside from the 4 multi-color Color Palettes, there are 8 different basic colors and 4 dual-tone color presets to spice up your phone’s UI.
In addition to these, the company has also expanded the Dynamic theme support to third-party applications. Samsung One UI 4 used to apply the color palette to select Samsung applications. Meanwhile, with One UI 5.0, the selected theme also applies to Google and other third-party applications.
Samsung Dynamic Theming needs more improvements:
Although Samsung has expanded the Dynamic theme support to more Samsung, Google, and third-party applications, it has not reached all apps. Besides third-party apps, many Samsung apps including Samsung Health, Smart Switch, Voice Recorder, Expert RAW, Phone, Calculator, Camera, Galaxy Store, Samsung Wearable, Smart TV, Samsung Pay, and more still don’t apply the theme.
This is not a big problem but the incomplete theming is reducing the beauty of Samsung UI. When you apply a color palette to app icons, it applies on some apps while other app icons that are not supporting the theme are spoiling the look of the entire app drawer.
Although Samsung offers you an option to not apply the color palette to app icons so all your applications will look real, it’s not a good idea when you want to theme your whole user interface.
