Samsung recently outlined its plans for 2025, signaling significant product advancements. Alongside its Q3 2024 earnings report, Samsung teased the Galaxy S25 series, an XR device, and the potential for a more affordable foldable phone shortly.
In Q3 2024, Samsung’s “Device Experience” division, which includes smartphones and other consumer tech, reported a profit of KRW 3.37 trillion. However, the company expects growth to remain moderate through Q4. Despite this, Samsung intends to prioritize sales of premium products and strengthen its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Central to this strategy is the Galaxy S25 series, which Samsung confirmed will launch in the first half of 2025, likely following the release timeline of the Galaxy S24 series that debuted in January.
The Galaxy S25 series aims to elevate the user experience through enhanced AI features, creating more impactful everyday interactions. To support this goal, Samsung plans to ramp up marketing efforts and user experience initiatives to boost sales across flagship models, including Galaxy Tab tablets, Galaxy Book laptops, and various wearable devices.
Samsung also teased its much-anticipated “XR device,” a new extended reality (XR) product. Though originally expected in 2024, recent announcements suggest the XR device may be delayed until 2025. This new product, co-developed with Google and powered by Qualcomm’s chip technology and Android, is widely believed to be a form of smart glasses, potentially bringing immersive virtual and augmented reality experiences to users. A developer version of the XR hardware was rumored for an October 2024 release but has yet to materialize.
Additionally, Samsung announced plans to strengthen the Samsung Health ecosystem, citing the recent release of its Galaxy Ring health-tracking device as a step toward deeper connectivity among its products. The company’s XR device, when launched, is expected to integrate with this ecosystem, offering enhanced connected experiences.
On the foldable front, Samsung indicated it is considering ways to make foldable devices more accessible. The company is exploring cost-effective designs and new form factors to lower entry barriers, allowing more consumers to experience foldable technology. This shift in approach comes after previous resistance to producing more affordable foldables; however, evolving market demands may have influenced this potential change.
With these plans for 2025, Samsung seems focused on enhancing user experiences, integrating advanced technology, and expanding its ecosystem across premium and more accessible products.
