This also caused a delay in the introduction of subsequent ancillary equipment and manufacturing equipment. It is reported that the construction of the Samsung P3 foundry will start in mid-2020, with a construction area of 700,000 square meters, making it Samsung’s largest factory in the world.

TheElec has learned that Samsung will complete the construction of its new P3 fab next year. The tech giant had originally planned to complete construction within this year.

Samsung only started building the fab’s clean room at the end of October, the sources said. NAND production line construction was also delayed by a month. The source added that the month-long delay has pushed back the timelines of other phases.

Moreover, the Samsung P3 foundry is a hybrid factory, which means that both memory and logic chips will be produced at the same time. The clean room for the DRAM production line in the factory has been completed. The NAND line cleanroom is expected to be complete and operational by the first quarter of 2023.
