Simplified contact syncing coming soon to Google Contacts
Top 3 Key Points:
- New Syncing Section: Easier contact syncing with a dedicated settings menu.
- Detailed Sync Information: View synced accounts and contact origins.
- Illegal Contact Reporting: New feature to report policy-violating contacts.
Google is planning some notable upgrades for its Contacts app, aiming to enhance the contact syncing experience. These changes were discovered by Android Authority in version 4.37.39 of the app. The upcoming updates promise to make syncing contacts more straightforward.
Streamlined Syncing Process
The new update will add a dedicated section in the settings menu for contact syncing. This section will simplify the syncing process, displaying synced account details and the number of contacts synced. Additionally, users will see when their contacts were last synced, along with a shortcut to access sync settings easily.
Enhanced Contact Information
The update will also enhance contact cards by showing synced Google account details. This information will be displayed at the bottom of the contact details page in a new section called “Contact info from.” This feature helps users identify if a contact is linked to an email ID or saved directly on the device, making contact management more efficient.
Reporting Illegal Contacts
A new “Report illegal profile contact” button will be introduced, allowing users to report contacts that violate Google’s policies. This feature aims to improve the overall safety and accuracy of contact information.
While these features promise significant improvements in contact management, there’s no official word on when Google will roll them out. It’s also possible that some features might be experimental and not widely released.
Stay tuned for further updates as Google continues to refine and enhance the Contacts app.
