Smartphone sales 2019: Apple took all the top five spots in North America
Apple has dominated the smartphone market in 2019 and took all the top five spots in North America. While Samsung had the most successful Android smartphones in 2019, reports Counterpoint.
In the North American region, the iPhone XR was the top-selling model with a 12% market share. It was the only model with a double-digit market share in any region.
In the global smartphone market, Apple iPhone captured six of the top ten spots in 2019 with the iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 8, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 7, and iPhone XS Max in that order. The iPhone XR was the top-selling model globally in 2019, with a 3% market share.
In the Android smartphone market, the Galaxy A50 was the most successful smartphone of 2019, closely followed by the Galaxy A10. You will also see OPPO A5 and Galaxy A20 in the top ten smartphones of 2019.
Samsung has high success in Latin America, Europe, and Africa. While Huawei only had the Huawei P30 in fifth place in the Chinese smartphone market.
For the first time, Realme was in the top five smartphones in the rest of APAC, the Realme C2 was on the fifth place. In fact, Realme was the fastest growing brand globally for CY 2019 (426% YoY).
Further, the top 10 smartphones only captured approx. 15% of the global market in 2019. While 5G smartphone sales were only 1% in 2019.
