Survival shooter Scavengers is out April 28 in Early Access for PC. The game offers skirmishes for 60 players. The developers of Midwinter Entertainment conducted an experiment in which 9000 players appeared on one map.
The authors invited users and journalists to the ScavLab mode, designed to research technological solutions that may appear in the game in the future. On April 25, there were more than 1,700 people on one card. Their actions and movements were controlled by huge administrator avatars.

At the end of the tests, the developers significantly scaled up and loaded the servers to the maximum – thousands of NPCs were added, but from the point of view of the network infrastructure of the Scavengers, they were considered as players. In total, about 9600 “people” appeared.
The players did not stand still but moved and performed actions that imitate human behavior. The creators admit that such chaos is not very playable, but useful for special events – in the style of Fortnite concerts. The Scavengers are reminiscent of Epic Games in terms of customization, and the cartoon graphics help reduce configuration requirements.
Midwinter was founded by veterans of the Battlefield and Halo series. The Scavengers’ gameplay is simultaneously similar to Fortnite and Escape from Tarkov. Teams of three explore the map, battling each other and the surroundings.
