Switch Pro may have bigger OLED screen, improved stand, and wired internet

New hardware details for the Nintendo Switch Pro may be leaked from a third-party peripheral manufacturer. This leak was shared by Spanish gaming site Vandal (via the Reset Era), and it is related to a new Switch hardware modification, with recent reports suggesting that E3 will be officially revealed before the start of 2021 – and Nintendo has never called Switch Pro an official capability.

According to Vandal’s source, the new switch is similar to the current model, but with a significantly larger screen. This is achieved by reducing the size of the black plastic bezel, increasing the total real estate taken by the screen. The report indicates that the new switch will use an OLED screen in line with information taken from the display manufacturer’s investor briefing earlier this month.

On the flip side, the new switch replaces the infamous flossy kickstand of the original version with large support that runs the length of the system, becoming like a stand on a Microsoft Surface tablet. It’s a strange thing to be excited about, but I’ve always liked my surface stand (which is very simple but very strong) so this comparison makes me happy.

The last big detail in the report is the new dock, which is slightly wider than the first built-in Ethernet port of the Nintendo console, as well as two USB 3.0 ports. All these details should be taken with a grain of salt until we get the official word about the console from Nintendo, but we don’t have to wait long for that.
