Telegram introduces Web3-ready browser and mini app store

Key Points:

  1. New in-app browser with Web3 support.
  2. Introduction of a Mini App Store.
  3. Enhanced features for app developers and users.

Telegram has launched a major update to its messaging app, bringing several new features like an upgraded in-app browser with Web3 support and a Mini App Store.

In-App Browser Enhancements Telegram’s in-app browser now supports Web3, allowing access to decentralized websites hosted on TON (The Open Network). The browser is designed to make navigation simple and efficient. It features a new bottom bar for easy access and the ability to collapse and reopen without losing your place. Users can also view articles instantly and bookmark their favorite content.

Mini App Store Telegram has introduced a Mini App Store within its platform. With 950 million users, at least 500 million interact with mini-apps monthly. The new “Apps” tab in the Search section displays the apps users frequently use and popular apps available on Telegram. This makes it easy to access games and services, and discover new apps.

App Developer Features App developers can now upload video demos and screenshots of their mini-apps, providing a preview for users. Mini apps can also generate custom content like AI-generated videos and leaderboard snapshots, which users can share as Telegram Stories directly from the mini app.

Telegram Stars and Other Features Telegram has also introduced “Telegram Stars,” allowing users to gift stars to friends. These stars can be used to buy digital goods in mini-apps or access paid content in select channels. Users can check their stars under Settings > My Stars.

For those who record video messages, Telegram now supports front flash, lighting up the screen to provide extra light in dark settings.

Additional updates include a new weather widget in Telegram Stories and the ability to add a cover photo to video stories.

These updates are available on both mobile devices and Mac OS, enhancing the overall Telegram experience with improved browsing, gaming, and Web3 access.
