Moreover, data shows that the second-largest model in European registrations is the Peugeot 208, and the third is Renault’s Dacia Sandero, both of which are also much cheaper than the Tesla Model Y.
Tesla confirmed that as of the end of September, the Berlin Gigafactory achieved a production rate of 2,000 Model Y vehicles a week.
In August of this year, Tesla launched a cheap rear-wheel-drive version of the Model Y in Europe. The car has a WLTP cruising range of 455 kilometers. For reference, Tesla’s long-range Model Y launched in Europe has a cruising range of 533 kilometers.
In terms of power, the rear-wheel drive Model Y has a top speed of 217 km/h and an acceleration time of 6.9 seconds from 0-100 km/h. The official website shows that the car is expected to be delivered between December 2022 and February 2023.
In terms of price, the rear-wheel drive version of Model Y starts at 50,000 euros in the Netherlands, which is 16,000 euros cheaper than the long-range version, and the 50,000 euros there is a VAT of about 8850 euros.
The current exchange rate of the euro and the dollar is about the same, which means that if the car is sold in the United States, it will be about $20,000 cheaper than the cheapest Model Y in the United States. In some European markets, the rear-wheel-drive Model Y is even cheaper than the standard Model 3.
