The market research organization UBI Research announced the global OLED panel data for the first quarter of 2021. The report shows that during this period, the sales of medium and large OLED panels increased by 156% year on year, reaching US$1.45 billion (approximately RMB 9.266 billion), an increase of 16.9% from the previous month.
UBI said that the growth was due to the increased demand for new OLED TVs and notebook computers. Shipment of OLED TV panels in the first quarter reached 1.6 million, and shipments of OLED panels for notebooks reached 1.1 million.

Research institutions also said that notebook OLED screens have a big problem with burn-in, but Samsung Display has developed a new panel that has greatly slowed this phenomenon and has been promoting this product since last year.
From the perspective of sales, TVs accounted for 81.6% of medium and large OLED panels, notebooks accounted for 8.3%, and a small amount were other products (such as tablet computers).
According to the report, the shipment of OLED panels below 10 inches was 140 million, a year-on-year increase of 32.4%, but a month-on-month decrease of 13.5%. These products are used in smartphones, smartwatches, and folding screen phones.
UBI said in the report that Samsung dominated the small-size OLED display panel, accounting for 79%, while LG accounted for 11.3%, ranking second.
