These flagship Samsung phones won’t get One UI 5.0/Android 13 update

Posted on

We are around the end of the year and Google has officially launched its stable Android 13 update for Pixel device owners. Meanwhile, various other Android device manufacturers including Samsung have begun testing the Android 13 Beta version on their premium compatible smartphones.

Earlier in the last month, Samsung started the One UI 5.0 Beta program for Galaxy S22 smartphones and later expanded it to Galaxy S21 devices. While the beta testing will be limited to a few flagship Samsung smartphones, the stable update will go live for a bunch of mid-range and budget smartphones as well.

However, not every Samsung smartphone is eligible for major Android 13-based One UI 5.0, even some flagship devices are ineligible for this upgrade. That’s because of the Samsung software update policy.

Samsung has different software update policies for its budget, mid-range, and flagship smartphones. There comes a time when the update support of smartphones ends and this is what happened with some older Samsung Galaxy smartphones from the S series, Note series, and fold series.
