TikTok has 1 billion active global users every month

TikTok announced today that more than 1 billion people use Tiktok every month, according to public information.

TikTok said it had about 55 million global users by January 2018. That number reached more than 271 million by December 2018 and 507 million by December 2019. The company reported nearly 700 million monthly active users last summer.

ByteDance launched TikTok, an international brand of Douyin in May 2017, and invested hundreds of millions of dollars to enter overseas markets.

Later, ByteDance spent US$1 billion to acquire musical.ly, a similar product in North America, in November 2017, which has since established Tiktok’s dominant position in the overseas market.

In comparison, Facebook said in the second quarter it (apps-family) had 3.51 billion monthly users, up from 3.45 billion in the first quarter.
