US electric truck maker Nikola announces purchase order for 100 Tre semi-trailer trucks

According to the latest report, Nikola, an American electric truck manufacturer, announced that it had received a purchase order for 100 pure electric semi-trailer trucks Tre from Zeem Solutions.

Zeem Solutions is a zero-emission electric vehicle “fleet-as-a-service” provider focused on providing a more economical, faster, and more efficient way to transition commercial fleets to pure electric vehicles.

Nikola’s name is interesting and similar to Tesla’s. The company name Tesla is in honor of a physicist, Nikola Tesla. In March of this year, Nikola revealed that the company had begun production of the all-electric Tre semi-trailer truck at its plant in Coolidge, Arizona.

In August, Nikola announced that it would appoint former Volkswagen executive Michael Lohscheller as the company’s chief executive officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2023.

The company’s current CEO and president, Mark Russell, will retire on January 1, 2023. While Russell will retire from the CEO position, he will remain on the company’s board of directors.
