Vivo Indian Premier League 2021: SRH vs RCB match recap
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won their second consecutive game after beating the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 6 of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.
After Shahbaz Ahmed struck three times in an over and managed to defend a total of 149 against SRH, RCB returned the ball to the monumental. Chasing a total of 150 runs, SRH openers David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha made a cautious start by scoring 13 in the first two overs.
The new ball put pressure on Mohammad Siraj early on, forcing Saha to play a blistering shot, which went straight into Maxwell’s hands on a backward point in the third over. However, SRHA attacked at the pace of Kyle Jamieson, scoring 17 in the fourth over and Warner and Manish Pandey hit sixes each.

The captain of the SRH shifted gears and included fifty for the Sunrisers, inside the powerplay. Pandey and Warner – both looked very comfortable and put pressure on the RCB spinners. A fifty-run partnership was recorded between the two as the RCB continued its quest for success.
At the half mark, SRH was 77/1 and was putting the chase to perfection. Leading the way, Warner scored his 49th half-century in the IPL. However, by dismissing Warner in the 14th over, Jamieson gave RCB much-needed success.
With 42 required in the final five overs, SRH was still in control of Chase. RCB skipper Kohli then gave the ball to Shahbaz Ahmed in the 17th over and it became a changing move in the match as the left-arm spinner lost 3 wickets in an over.
He dismissed Johnny Bairstow and Pandey on consecutive balls and then all three batsmen dismissed Abdul Samad on the final delivery in an attempt to clear the ropes. The pressure continued as they lost two more wickets. First, Hershal Patel released Vijay Shankar, courtesy of Kohli’s running catch in the 18th over, and later, after Siraj dismissed Jason Holder, he fell to the ground in the penalty over.
Hershal Patel scored 16 runs to save in the final over. When he threw a no-ball, he took care of himself and lost a wicket, in which RCB helped seal a stunning 6-run victory. The RCB, which was earlier put up for batting, made a change in the playing XI, replacing Rajat Patidar with Devdutt Padhikal.
When Kohli opened his account straight from the ground boundary, Padikkal hit two fours at the other end. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed at the back of the lengthy delivery. All-rounder Ahmed joined Kohli, who was playing some stylish flicks, to lead RCB 47-1 at the end of the powerplay.
Nadeem came in to bowl his second over and the left-arm spinner’s ball was converted by Rashid Khan, who gave his second wicket to SRH. RCB had to go back to defense, with Maxwell and Kohli registering a stable partnership and going for runs per over until the halfway mark.
Maxwell decided he had enough, as Nadeem had two sixes and a four off two right-handed balls while Kohli had four runs, both of which were 22 in the 11th over. However, SRH Kohli’s big wicket was quick after Vijay Shankar made a significant effort to complete the catch in the top one outfield with his right hand.
Another breakthrough came after Kohli’s dismissal, as Rashid Khan lost 1 wicket to AB de Villiers in the 14th over to push RCB to the backfoot. To go 5 overs, most of the work was done in SRH’s bowling attack and was incredibly appreciated by the outfielders with a sharp catch.
Manish Pandey, who helped Rashid to take the second wicket, went ahead with a dive, while Washington Sundar suffered another SRH defeat. While Maxwell kept coming to the boundaries, Natarajan ran away from the partners after dismissing Daniel Christian for 1.
Jamison played a helper to Maxwell, breaking 2 boundaries before the holder was out in the final over of the innings. However, Maxwell scored the most runs in the holder’s over, scoring 13 runs in the first half of the season as well as RCB. The right-handed team was out on the final delivery of the innings after guiding the RCB to 149/8.
