Volkswagen started building third electric car factory in China

Volkswagen Group stated that it had begun building a new electric-car factory in Anhui. This new plant is the third pure electric vehicle plant of the group in China after the Anting and Foshan plants.

The plant is expected to be completed in the middle of 2022 and will start production in the second half of 2023. It is reported that many brands of the Volkswagen Group are committed to developing a fleet of all-electric vehicles for daily driving.

At present, the group’s focus is to save time, energy, and money through the MEB platform to develop functional electric vehicles. According to reports, the Volkswagen Group has invested more than 30 billion euros (36 billion U.S. dollars) in the field of electric vehicles to comply with the EU’s stricter environmental regulations.

Volkswagen Group stated that before 2025, Volkswagen Group (China) plans to deliver 1.5 million new energy vehicles each year.
