WhatsApp preps Email Verification feature – a new way to access account
WhatsApp is readying an Email Verification feature which will act as a new way to access your account. So far, we were only able to enter the app using our phone numbers. Although that won’t be the case anymore and you will able to use the application via your email as well.
Spotted in the Android beta 2.23.18.19 version, WhatsApp is rolling out an Email Verification feature. Eventually, the company is providing a useful way to its users where they can access their accounts once their email address is confirmed.
Adding an extra layer of security, the app will not showcase your email address to your contacts. Meanwhile, you will get rid of waiting for the 6-digit code by SMS, while entering the application. However, this feature remains optional and you can pick your access way accordingly.
On the other hand, your email should be automatically verified if you use your Google account to back up your chat history on Google Drive or have previously set up a two-step verification. The feature is available to a handful of beta testers via Play Store and will appear soon in a stable release.
