WhatsApp HD image-sharing feature goes live for Android and iOS

WhatsApp officially started rolling out the most-demanded HD image-sharing feature for its consumers. Earlier, the respective capability was in the testing phase, limited to a small number of users. Although the company is now pushing it off to everyone on both Android and iOS devices.

Recently, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared an announcement on his Instagram as well as Facebook channels and quoted that WhatsApp is availing the all-new HD image-sharing feature for everyone.

Earlier, the app used to compress the snaps and reduce its resolution for less data consumption. As a result, the image received appears to be poor in quality. However, the latest app update introduced an “HD” tab while sending images. Users can pick the ‘standard’ or ‘HD’ option as per their requirements.

Note that HD photos are clearer whereas the Standard images will use less storage space and are faster to send.  Besides, the high-res snap will showcase the ‘HD’ tag on it.

HD videos coming too!

Apart from the image segment, Meta also depicted that the company is working on HD videos and will release the feature soon. To check on these latest changes, make sure to update the app to the newest version.
