WhatsApp introduces a new numbered media picker feature
WhatsApp is now readying another new tweak named numbered media picker for Android smartphones. As the name reflects, the development aims to simplify the selection of media content and further improve the file-sending interface in the application.
In recent times, we come across several significant changes and features that will make their way to iOS and Android devices in the coming days. The latest one includes the Meta Quest VR headset connection for the app which will ultimately enhance the user experience.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is now testing the 2.23.13.6 version for Android that accompanies the numbered media picker tool. At present, the feature is rolling out for beta testers, but it will soon be available for general consumers.
Speaking of the newest addition, when you will select a file, image, or video to share with your family and friends, you will see the chosen thumbnails tagged with numbers. Eventually, this will ease the selection of media content and will let you keep a record of selected files.
Earlier, while choosing several files, the app used to depict a checkmark on the thumbnails. Though it was an accurate way of showing which files have been selected, it does not reflect the count and makes it difficult to remember how many items were selected.
But this won’t be the case anymore as the new feature shows a number on the chosen media content. Thus, it highlights clearly how many files you have picked and brings a more convenient as well as a simpler user experience to the application.

As mentioned, the feature is in the development phase and only a few beta testers can access it. Though you can participate in this activity and make your way to the Google Play Store to download the latest version.
