WhatsApp is testing new passkey feature for account verification

Posted on

WhatsApp concerns about its users’ privacy and in the latest development, the company is testing a new passkey feature for account verification. As the term reflects, it is a short sequence of numbers or characters used to authenticate identity and act as a form of security code.

Spotted in the Android 2.23.17.5 beta version, WhatsApp is planning to integrate a useful passkey feature to provide users with a simple way to sign in safely. The functionality will add some extra safety and benefits to your chat account in the application.

No! You don’t have to worry about forgetting this code as the app securely stores it in your Google Password Manager. The tech-pack capability will use your fingerprint, face, or screen lock to verify your identity and further enhance security.

As mentioned, the company is testing this feature and availed it to a handful of beta testers via the Google Play Store. Though we can anticipate that WhatsApp will bring this interesting feature to more users with a stable release in the time ahead.
