WhatsApp readying a new secret code feature for your locked chats

Posted on

WhatsApp counts privacy as the top-most priority segment and in the latest edition, the company is preparing a new secret code feature for your locked chats. The new addition is making its way to some beta testers and will soon show up on the stable platform.

Spotted in the Android beta 2.23.21.8 version, WhatsApp is rolling out a secret code feature for locked chats. As the name reflects, the capability will enable users to configure a unique code which will contribute to enhancing the privacy of the application.

There aren’t many details about the new feature. But it seems as if this tweak will allow users to set a custom password for their protected chat folder. This is quite beneficial as it differs from the phone’s main password and provides users with greater control over their locked conversations.

Eventually, when users set a custom password for their protected chats, it isolates the privacy of these chats from the overall phone security. Hence,  even if someone gains access to the device password, they won’t be able to reach your chats.
