WhatsApp testing new safety tools to protect you from unknown numbers

Posted on

It’s a new day and WhatsApp is testing some significant safety tools that will guard you against unknown phone numbers. The latest development is currently in the beta stage and available to a handful of testers. Though if things proceed accurately, the company will soon bring this change to general users with a stable release.

WhatsApp is a secure application, no doubt. So far, it was not able to limit unknown contacts to send messages, which usually creates fear in our minds. However, the company has finally started working on this concept and has arrived with effective functionalities.

Spotted in the Android 2.23.16.6 beta version, WhatsApp is bringing new safety tools that will protect you from unknown numbers. This feature intends to introduce more useful tools to help users feel more secure while receiving messages from anonymous contacts.

Eventually, on obtaining a text from some other person, the app will pop up a new screen showing what users can do in such a scenario. You can block or report them to the moderation team. Further, the app provides information regarding how to stay safe in chat by checking the profile name, photo, and country code.

It also ensures that the recipient remains unaware of whether you have read their messages. For the moment, these tweaks are available in the beta build. Though you can check them by installing the latest version from the Google Play Store.
