HarmonyOS 2: When will Huawei shift global users to its self developed OS?

Huawei unveiled its self-made operating system, HarmonyOS 2 on June 02, 2021, and soon after the release, the company has also announced its upgrade plan for the Chinese users. Beta testing is an ongoing process that starts with the closed beta, goes through public beta testing, followed by the stable version.

Though the developer beta was started back in December 2020 for the select flagship phones. However, all these testings were limited to China and the users outside in the global market are still waiting for it.

Not just the smartphones, the Chinese OEM will upgrade devices including smartwatches, tablets, IoT devices, Car systems, and Smart home appliances to the new HarmonyOS 2.0. And it has initially started with smartphones, tablets, and smart screens. Later on, it will expand to more devices.

Huawei plans to install the HarmonyOS 2 in over 300 million devices before the year-end. And most of them will be smartphones and tablets. Further, it also aims to upgrade 100 models on this software. The company has started with China and gradually it will expand to other regions as well, but the question is when?

When is the time, for which the users in the global market should wait? Currently, all the related testings of the HarmonyOS 2 are limited to China. Huawei has not yet announced anything on this and we expect it very soon along with the upgrade plan. Well, there are some possibilities in the coming days that we have known.

After Huawei P50 launch 

Huawei P50 currently in works with the Chinese tech giant is said to be announced on July 29, which is just a few days from now. All the P50 models will pre-pack the new HarmonyOS 2.0. The event will be broadcasted to both Chinese and global users.

There might be some possibility that this event will bring something for the eagerly waiting global consumers of Huawei products. And the beta process may initiate after this launch since the company is speeding up the process.

Fourth-quarter of the year

This is just an intuition that Huawei will open the HarmonyOS 2 doors for global users in the fourth quarter this year. Meanwhile, we expect it to be earlier than looking at the speedy process of the rollout.

Conclusion

Huawei hasn’t said anything on the worldwide rollout of the HarmonyOS 2.0 and the aforementioned is the expected two possibilities when the company may begin the rollout for this new software. We expect that the eagerly waiting users may receive the software as soon as possible.
