With One UI 6.0, Samsung will kill background apps for best user experience
With One UI 6.0 software version, Samsung is said to bring various significant changes to your Galaxy devices and one of them may be the killing of background apps. This new optimization in collaboration with Android 14 will offer a seamless app experience for users along with better battery life.
For Android developers like Samsung and others differing “restrictions on foreground services and background work” is the main concern and is difficult to follow. Also, the vendors are various curious to kill the background apps which will result to save battery life and provide seamless interpretation for Android device users.
In a recent development, Google and Samsung announced a partnership that addresses the background apps inconsistency with Android 14 and One UI 6.0 and offer better than best user experience. Google’s goal starting with Android 14 is to “make it easier for developers to create apps that work consistently across different Android devices.”
Google says
- Looking to solve these consistency challenges, we are announcing deeper partnerships with Android hardware manufacturers to help ensure APIs for background work are supported predictably and consistently across the ecosystem.
Samsung is chosen as the first companion to deliver the best app user experience. Since the One UI 6.0 will implement “foreground services of apps targeting Android 14 will be guaranteed to work as intended so long as they are developed according to Android’s new foreground service API policy.”
Samsung says
- To strengthen the Android platform, our collaboration with Google has resulted in a unified policy that we expect will create a more consistent and reliable user experience for Galaxy users.
However, with Android 14 Developer Preview 1, Google has announced three changes, and the company is encouraging developers to send feedback related to issues and flaws on the Android 14 APIs, as well as contribute CTS-D tests to “help catch consistency issues and make the software more accurate.
