MIUI is a heavily modified Android software skin, based on Android OS. It includes various functions, apps, and more. Due to its development, Xiaomi has integrated many new features on its custom Android skin.
Recently, some Xiaomi users reported that they cannot install GMS (Google Mobile Services) on their phones. After the launch of MIUI 12.5 in China, these limitations have been noted.
On the other side, the company is aware of this and has now released an official statement on Weibo. The statement consists of four points and they are as follows:
- The information regarding GMS on Xiaomi phones was shared by an unofficial Xiaomi Community group.
- The news is just a rumor, the company is not blocking GMS installation.
- The GMS framework comes pre-installed on certain domestic smartphones. But it will be not the case in the future.
- International version models are not affected.
The report clearly states that without the necessary framework, users will not able to install GMS on their phones. In addition, the company also mentioned that they would offer more models through pre-installed GMS software packages to meet user needs.
As the company said, international models are not affected by this, so they do not have to worry about GMS on smartphones. Moreover, users who import Xiaomi phones from China will not be able to install GMS on their devices without the necessary framework.
