Xiaomi is bringing NFC Pay straps for contactless payments in India

Posted on

Xiaomi is presenting a new product that can easily make contactless payments via NFC (Near Field Communication) in India. It will work in tandem with its digital payments app Mi Pay.

The company recently announced that it will soon launch the Xiaomi NFC Mi Pay straps for its smartwatches and Mi bands, which will allow users to experience contactless payments in offline stores. For this, Xiaomi will collaborate with RuPay, RBL Bank, and fintech platform Zeta.

Although Xiaomi offers several NFC smartphones that support contactless payments, the company is yet to launch NFC-enabled Xiaomi watches and Xiaomi Mi Band 6 in India.

At the same time, a leash that supports NFC will allow users to perform NFC functions. These straps can be designed to be compatible with more than one watch. The NFC Pay Strap from Xiaomi is likely to be compatible with its own watch products.

In addition, once the straps are used on the watch, they won’t need any source of power to function. They can easily be tapped onto a point-of-sale device for making contactless payments.

Furthermore, these can also be configured to replace particular cards at a certain location, similar to the subway cards or tokens we use in-country subways.

Hence, the NFC Smart Strap can be easily used to make such payments anytime, anywhere, with just the touch of the wrist.
