Even Samsung’s low budget phone getting Android 11, why not OnePlus 6?

Posted on

Just recently, Samsung has updated its low-budget Galaxy A01 to the latest Android 11 OS, which is a major blow for some of the Chinese OEMs. Especially for those, who are eagerly waiting for this update after spending lots of money.

Despite the extraordinary features, Samsung is also known for its healthy and impressive software update mechanism. This is where most or almost all the Android phone makers lack and so is the OnePlus. We are now close to Android 12 and there is no time for Samsung to start the beta testing of its upcoming One UI 4.0.

Meanwhile, it seems pretty early to talk about the OxygenOS 12 for OnePlus phones as the company is still to update its one of the important and best-selling smartphones. Yes, you got that right, by best selling I mean the OnePlus 6 series devices.

As per the official confirmation that came several weeks back, suggests that the OnePlus 6 will get an Android 11 based OxygenOS 11 update around August this year. This was a major blow to the OnePlus 6 and 6T users, and it was kind of awkward too. How the company can leave behind the smartphone which lifted it up and became an important aspect in its growth.

Is OnePlus 6 or 6T getting Android 11?

Well, this is the very known answer and I just added it for the users who are still concerned looking at the passing time. Both the OnePlus 6 and 6T users will be getting the Android 11 based OxygenOS 11 update. It’s just they have to wait for a while.

Though it’s quite frustrating sometimes and you might also be searching for installing Android 11 update unofficially. But I recommend you to wait and install the official version to get all the OxygenOS 11 features in the same way as the other OnePlus phones.

There might be some complications if you install Android 11 from any third party and several risks such as data loss, some functions might not work, system lags, camera issue, etc. If they come in the official version, the company will be liable to fix them.

OnePlus really need its software department improved!

OnePlus is well known for its offerings in terms of hardware or say just in terms of hardware. Whereas it lacks behind in software terms, this is where Samsung performs better than OnePlus. The OxygenOS is also impressive but it’s just the software support that needs some improvements.

As the OP users always notice, every other software update comes with some improvements or bug fixes and not just the security patches. This is one of the reasons why users still think before they opt for OnePlus phones. The company first needs to upgrade its software department.

Will the Oppo-OnePlus partnership change the fortune of OnePlus fans?

What part will the merging of OnePlus in Oppo play in the software improvement? This seems a very wise question and it’s a possibility too or a hope. Hope for the OnePlus owner who are in search of timely software upgrades.

Does that mean OnePlus will extend the software support for its users? As said by the CEO of the company in the recent announcement: “With this deeper integration with OPPO, we will have more resources at hand to create even better products for you. It will also allow us to be more efficient, for example, bringing faster and more stable software updates for OnePlus users.”

This might be the start of something new and it seems that the improvements might be coming soon after this integration. While the users also have some questions after these two Chinese brands merged. And it’s very fair to have such questions being a concerned user.

Is it worth buying the OnePlus 6 in 2021?

I think you have already got the answer to that one after reading this bulky article or you have read it carefully, have you? Looking at the current OnePlus software support, it won’t be a good decision to buy a OnePlus 6 or 6T device in 2021.

Apart from the software, the OnePlus 6 carries several high-end features and is powered by the Snapdragon 845, so gamers can still have it and it won’t disappoint. Also, it looks premium with its glass back and the old-fashioned small notch.

And even though you want to, you can’t because after three more generations arrived, it will be hard to find OnePlus 6 or 6T in the market. Though it will be available somewhere being an extraordinary OnePlus fan you will definitely find it.
