The iPhone 17 series is still about seven months from hitting the shelves, but chatter about it is already buzzing. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who shared some insights in his weekend newsletter called Power On, Apple is set to highlight the iPhone 17 Pro’s upgraded video skills when it’s revealed later this year. He didn’t spill the beans on exact details, though.

In previous years, Apple put more effort into boosting the camera’s photo-taking powers. This time, they’re switching gears to focus on video upgrades. The aim for the 2025 iPhone lineup is to pull in vloggers and video makers, encouraging them to ditch separate cameras and rely on the iPhone for more of their projects. Expect Apple to push these video features when the new phones launch in September.

Over time, iPhones have already gained cool video tools like Action mode for steady shots, Cinematic mode for that blurry background effect, and other neat tricks. Several reports also suggest the iPhone 17 Pro will sport a fresh look for its rear cameras. A supposed sneak peek of the design showed a big rectangular camera strip with rounded edges on the back. Word is, it’ll pack three 48-megapixel cameras.

Gurman also dropped a reminder that Apple’s first foldable iPhone is still on track for 2026. With these updates, it seems Apple’s cooking up something exciting for video fans and creators alike!

Apple has traditionally used a range of materials for the frames of its high-end iPhones, moving from aluminum to stainless steel, and most recently to titanium. Now, whispers in the tech world suggest that for the iPhone 17 series, Apple might revert to aluminum for most models.

According to Jeff Pu, an Apple supply chain analyst, who shared his insights in a note to GF Securities, three out of the four iPhone 17 models – the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max – will feature aluminum frames. Surprisingly, the rumored iPhone 17 Air is expected to keep the more durable titanium frame.

This switch back to aluminum for the Pro models is significant because the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro models were launched with titanium frames, making them lighter than their predecessors with stainless steel frames.

The motivation behind this potential change appears to be environmental. Aluminum has a smaller carbon footprint than titanium, aligning with Apple’s goal to make all its products and supply chain carbon-neutral by 2030. This move echoes Apple’s recent strategy with products like the new Mac mini and certain Apple Watches, potentially positioning some iPhone 17 models as the company’s first carbon-neutral smartphones.

The choice of titanium for the iPhone 17 Air, however, remains a bit of a mystery since aluminum is lighter, which would typically be preferred for a device aimed at being slim and lightweight. Last year, another analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, hinted that the iPhone 17 Air might use a combination of both materials, with less titanium than used in the iPhone 15 Pro models. Could this be the design of the new iPhone 17 Pro? A 3D artist named Asher from Front Page Tech shared an image on Tuesday, showing what might be Apple’s next big phone in the iPhone 17 series. The picture gives us one of the clearest views yet of what the iPhone 17 Pro could look like.

The image shows a big, long camera bump that stretches across the top of the phone’s back. This design looks a bit like what we’ve seen on the Google Pixel 9 Pro. The camera bump is much larger than what we’ve seen in other guesses online. The cameras are arranged in a triangle on the left side, with the flash, microphone, and LiDAR scanner lined up on the right.

Jon Prosser from Front Page Tech, who says he’s seen the phone, describes it as having two different colors on the back, with the camera part being darker than the rest. However, there are doubts about how true this design is. Normally, the flash and LiDAR scanners are close to the cameras for them to work best.

It’s unclear if this new look is just for style or changes in how the phone works. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg thinks these images might come from a fake design, but other sources, including some from China with links to Apple’s suppliers, have talked about a bigger camera bump.

We’re not sure yet if the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have the same look, but it usually does match the Pro model. The new iPhone 17 Air, which is taking over from the Plus model, is expected to have a slimmer camera bump with just one camera on the left and the flash and microphone on the right. We don’t know if the regular iPhone 17 will have this camera style too. A new leak shows that the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro might feature an innovative camera setup. According to the popular YouTube channel “Tech Updates,” the phone will have three back cameras, but this time, they’ll be inside a new, rectangular camera bar with rounded edges.

In the latest video from “Tech Updates,” host Mike Johnson explains that this camera bar will be much bigger than what we’ve seen in earlier leaks. The cameras will sit on the left side of the bar, and on the right, you’ll find the LED flash, a microphone, and the LiDAR Scanner, all stacked up.

Johnson also mentioned that the iPhone 17 Pro will have a unique two-tone look, where the camera bar seems darker than the phone’s back panel.

While it’s not clear if this new design offers any advantages or if it’s just for looks, it certainly changes the phone’s appearance. Johnson claims his information comes from several people who know about the iPhone 17 Pro’s design, and he’s seen the phone himself.
