Apple has hired a new engineer to lead the software development business of the smart speaker HomePod, hoping to turn it into a more popular product. People familiar with the matter said that Apple hired Afrooz Family to be responsible for the HomePod software business.

Moreover, Famire worked at Apple from 2012 to 2016 and then co-founded the audio startup Syng with Apple’s former industrial designer Christopher Stringer. Earlier this year, Famire left the company after assisting Syng in developing the Cell Alpha product.
