Audi brings a software updates for the 2019/20 e-tron: Report
Audi recently announced that it will provide software updates for the 2019 and 2020 e-tron 55 quattro models. This update can upgrade the old e-tron pure electric SUV The endurance of the car, after the update, the two models can get an extra 20km of endurance compared to the previous one.
The reason for this software update is that some traditional car manufacturers generally have an unnecessary battery used as a buffer on the battery packs of their first or first batch of pure electric vehicles. The purpose is to resist the daily use of the battery. The loss that occurs. However, some car companies are too careful about this, so that at the beginning of the design, the buffer zone of the battery is too large, which reduces the strength of the vehicle in disguise. Audi is one of them.
Furthermore, Audi that the increase in battery life is mainly achieved by increasing the available capacity of the vehicle’s total 95 kWh battery pack to 86 kWh. After the software update, Audi said that according to the WLTP cycle mileage test standard, the 2019 and 2020 e-tron 55 quattro can add an additional 20km of battery life compared to before, which can reach a total of 441km of battery life.

Besides, the new software update also optimizes the vehicle’s ability to control the front-wheel-drive motor. After the software is updated, the vehicle will only rely on the motor connected to the rear wheel to be responsible for the vehicle’s travel. The front-wheel motor can be almost completely offline and turn off the power to form a pure rear-wheel drive state. Only when the vehicle needs more power, the front and rear two motors of the wheel will start at the same time.
Audi said that the update will be launched in Europe first and will be synchronized to other regions soon. It is reported that the software update can only be installed through the Audi service center, and cannot be updated through OTA.
