The new rules are designed to require digital platforms such as Netflix to feature Canadian artists on their services when users log in with a Canadian Internet Protocol address.
Big streaming companies such as YouTube, TikTok, and Netflix, as well as legal experts and some Canadian artists, have opposed the Canadian move, or warned of unintended consequences, such as harming the people the new policy is designed to help, the report said.
