Chip shortages hit production of General motors and Ford motors: Report

According to the latest report, the two largest US automakers, General Motors, and Ford Motors reported that chip shortages affected factory output, and profits in the third financial quarter fell sharply.

Among them, GM’s third-quarter net profit fell by 40%, and Ford’s third-quarter net profit fell by 23% year-on-year. The two automakers said that due to the shortage of chips, dealers’ car inventories are seriously insufficient, and the shortage may continue in 2022.

Managers of General Motors and Ford Motor said that the supply chain disruption is expected to gradually improve in the fourth quarter and 2022, but it is difficult for dealers to have enough car inventory.
