Colorful introduced a BattleAX DDR5 memory, with a frequency of 4800MHz

Intel’s 12th-generation Core processor was officially announced and Colorful also officially released the BattleAX DDR5 memory. The product uses a black PCB, comes with a red and black color heat dissipation jacket, The memory is initially available in 8GB and 16GB models, with a starting frequency of 4800MHz.

Colorful said that DDR5 memory brings on-die ECC error correction. This technology can only correct errors within the memory particles, while the traditional server ECC memory uses a dedicated chip, which can additionally correct communication errors during operation.

Regarding the issue of DDR5 memory supporting a single dual-channel, Colorful said that this explanation is not completely correct. Because the original DDR4 memory has only one 64Bit channel to transmit data, DDR5 memory splits it into two 32Bit channels to achieve the so-called 1DIMM dual-pass effect.

To achieve the ideal value of traditional dual-channel performance, two memory sticks are still needed. In addition, Intel’s twelfth-generation Core processor also only provides two 64Bit memory channels. Moreover,  DDR5 memory integrates a PMIC power management chip with a default voltage of 1.1V.

For users who like to overclock, you can manually increase the voltage to help the memory reach a higher frequency. Colorful said that it will launch more high-frequency, large-capacity DDR5 memory for users.
