Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk have long been among the world’s billionaires, and their rankings continue to rise. Musk has become the richest person in the world, with a net worth equivalent to the sum of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Musk has a net worth of $230 billion. Gates ranked fourth with 130 billion U.S. dollars, and Buffett ranked 10th with 102 billion U.S. dollars. Both Gates and Buffett were the richest men in the world before.

In January of this year, Musk surpassed Amazon founder Jeff Bezos for the first time, becoming the world’s richest man with a net worth of US$185 billion. Bezos has maintained this title since 2017. Musk’s wealth this year has increased by more than $60 billion because of the strong performance of Tesla stock and the recent second sale of SpaceX stock, which has a valuation of more than $100 billion.

According to reports, SpaceX’s second share sale increased Musk’s net assets by 11 billion U.S. dollars. Recently, Bezos has become a tantalizing object for Musk, who sent him a silver emoji on Twitter. However, Bezos is still the second richest person on the planet, with a net worth of US$191 billion.

Moreover, if Gates and Buffett did not make huge beneficent donations, their rankings on the wealth list may be closer to Musk. Over the years, both have donated tens of billions of dollars to charity, and Musk has often been criticized for not donating more wealth.

Musk has previously stated that he prefers to remain anonymous when making donations. Earlier this year, he asked Twitter users to provide “critical feedback” on his donation methods. This year, Musk also pledged to donate 150 million U.S. dollars, including a 100 million U.S. dollar bonus for the Carbon Emissions Reduction Challenge, a number estimated by the media to be more than all his previous charitable donations.
