The French Post Office announced last week that it will launch a “digital stamp” in 2023, which will use a string of digital codes instead of traditional paper stamps. Items weighing up to 20 grams can pass through French Post.

“It’s very simple for the user,” French Post OfficeDirector-General Nathalie Collin explained that digital stamps would be a light-mail ‘green’ stamp that could replace the current stamp system.
To put it simply, users can buy this “digital stamp” on the French Post App, and after paying, they will get an 8-digit one-time code consisting of numbers and letters, and then users need to write it on the envelope with a pen.
Poste France added that the codes must be “different enough from each other to tolerate minor reading errors and minimize the risk of fraud”.
The company said it had made a one-time investment of 800 million euros in France Post between now and 2025 to “modernize its omnichannel network”.
Poste de France said it would first launch the service in an “experimental phase”. The option is displayed to allow users to “put a ‘stamp’ on letters anytime, anywhere, at any time of the day or night”.
Officials say the system, which will be rolled out in 2023, can deliver letters up to 20 grams across France. France Post also plans to invest “500 million euros in the refurbishment of post offices and 300 million euros in digital transformation”.
