The U.S. Department of Defense contract that Google plans to bid for is called “Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability,” which is potentially lucrative and may be worth billions of dollars. The Google Cloud department has reassigned engineers to join the bidding program for this contract.

Moreover, this plan may once again cause noise in the outspoken Google workforce and will test the purpose of Google management to resist employee demands. In addition to Google, Microsoft and Amazon are also fighting for this contract.

In 2018, thousands of Google employees signed a joint letter to protest Google’s participation in the US military project “Project Maven”, which uses AI technology to translate video information and may be used to improve drone airstrikes.
