Graphics card prices to fall by an average of 15% in May 2022

According to the latest report, the best graphics card availability and prices continue to increase, more than half of current-generation AMD and Nvidia GPUs are now priced at or below the suggested retail price.

A good recent graphics card option is the AMD RX 6600, which is currently priced at just $290 — $40 less than the official suggested retail price. Typical performance is similar to GTX 1080 Ti, RTX 2060 Super, and RX 5700, depending on the game the user is playing. These graphics cards also only require about 140W, depending on the specific model.

Moreover, AMD’s RX 6600 XT, RX 6650 XT, RX 6700 XT, and RX 6750 XT are all pretty expensive overall, and the best price options for GeForce RTX cards belong to the previous-gen RTX 2060, 2070, 2070 Super, and RTX 2080. If users want to buy an RTX 30 series GPU, then the RTX 3060 and 3060 Ti are good choices.

Furthermore, USD 125 for a cheap GTX 1060 3GB, good enough for light gaming and internet surfing, but if you want 60 fps/1080p gaming you’ll need a graphics card like an RX 5700 or RTX 2060 Super, and an AMD RX 6600 And the 6600 XT, which supports better performance at a lower price.

For Nvidia, the RTX 3060 and 3060 Ti are relatively competitive with AMD’s GPUs — especially if you factor in ray tracing and DLSS, despite still being a big jump from the official MSRP. The best price option for AMD GPUs is still 0.20–0.23 FPS/$, compared to 0.175 FPS/$ for Nvidia GPUs.

Overall, graphics card prices fell by an average of 15% compared to the previous month. For AMD, only the RX 6800 and 6800 XT are priced above their official MSRPs of $650 and $580, respectively. Conversely, most Nvidia RTX 30-series GPUs still sell for more than MSRP. The extreme price of the RTX 3080 12GB and above means that these cards don’t see a huge increase, but the average increase from the RTX 3050 to the RTX 3080 10GB is 20%.
