Intel’s new 3.2 megawatt solar power station will reduce Carbon dioxide emission

Posted on

Intel built a brand new 3.2 megawatt (MW) solar power station in Malaysia. The solar power station is located in Intel’s chip and packaging test manufacturing plant in Kulim High-tech Park, Malaysia. It is Intel’s largest solar power station outside of the United States.

Intel today stated that its operations department is using it to power six buildings in the Kulim and Penang campuses. The total installed capacity of this solar power station reaches 4.1 MW.

The project will be constructed in 2020 and will account for approximately 15% of Intel’s global solar photovoltaic power generation capacity and will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 3,800 tons.

According to reports, the newly built solar panels cover an area equivalent to 900 parking spaces and 50,208 square feet of building roof and are expected to generate approximately 6,000 megawatt-hours of electricity per year. Solar power generation can partially meet the electricity demand of the local park during the peak period of electricity consumption.
