ChatGPT owner – OpenAI has started exploring new ways to develop its own AI chips. The company hasn’t taken any major step on this matter so far. But for at least one year, it has been discussing various options to solve the shortfall of the expensive AI chips.
Eventually, one of these options is producing OpenAI-designed AI chips by collaborating with other chipmakers such as Nvidia and diversifying its supply chain. Though the company has not uttered any word directly on this subject. Yet, things are under development.
The OpenAI CEO – Sam Altman said that AI chipsets have remained a top priority for the company. However, two major concerns often tie up the efforts:
“…the shortage of advanced processors that power OpenAI’s software and the eye-watering costs associated with running the hardware necessary to power its efforts and products.”
Let’s see how much time OpenAI will take to make these dreams come true.
