Qualcomm launched Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and 7 Gen 1 chipsets

Qualcomm has revealed the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 alongside the 7 Gen 1 processor. Besides, it has also announced a new reference design with the Wireless AR Smart Viewer. With Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, the company has focused mainly on gaming handsets.

Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1

The 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset equips a Kyro CPU and Adreno GPU. Consequently, the CPU conducts 30% more improved power efficiency and deducts the extra GPU power consumption. Further, it provides 15% SoC power saving. It will appear on the latest flagship devices by Q3 2022. Here is the amount of time users will be able to have in the various fields of the handset with the respective chipset:

  • +80 minutes of video streaming
  • +5.5 hours of talk time
  • +25 minutes 5G WeChat video calling
  • +50 minutes of social media browsing

Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

According to Qualcomm, the new 7 Gen 1 processor delivers an epic mobile gaming experience with high-speed connectivity. It exhibits a 20% speedy graphics rendering and capturing snaps up to 200MP. Additionally, the company has also used a Trust Management Engine and Android Ready SE for IDs and digital car keys.

The company also brought a Wireless AR Smart Viewer, powered by Snapdragon XR2. It provides a dual micro-OLED binocular display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.
