Some Ryzen chipsets affecting performance issues in Windows 11

Benchmark tests show that compared with Windows 10, the performance of Windows 11 has generally increased, but today AMD informed that for its Ryzen chipset, the exact opposite situation may occur, some chips. The running speed is 10-15% slower on the new system than the old operating system.

AMD and Microsoft have found that Windows 11 on Ryzen has two major problems. The first is that Windows 11 may let the L3 cache latency increase twice. AMD stated that this issue may cause the performance of most affected applications to drop by 3-5%, while some games AMD specifically pointed out those “commonly used in e-sports” games performance may drop by 10-15%.

Moreover, Windows 11 also has problems with AMD’s “preferred core” technology, which is usually intended to move threads to the fastest core on the processor. AMD warns that users may experience performance issues on tasks that rely on the CPU, especially on processors with more than 8 cores, about 65W TDP.

Furthermore, AMD and Microsoft have confirmed that they are “actively investigating these known issues in order to resolve them through software updates.” The two companies promised to plan Windows updates and software updates later this month to try to solve these problems. Before this patch comes, Microsoft will probably not push Windows 11 to AMD systems. Users who use AMD Ryzen devices are advised not to manually install Windows 11 for now.
