In September, the US Department of Commerce required companies in the semiconductor supply chain to fill out a questionnaire before November 8 to obtain information about ongoing chip shortages.
In the questionnaire, chip manufacturers were asked to comment on inventory, backlog, delivery time, procurement time, and the work they did to increase production. The U.S. Department of Commerce also requires information about major customers for each product.
Moreover, the U.S. request caused domestic controversy in South Korea, and critics condemned the U.S. request for commercial secrets. Previously, local reports stated that South Korean technology companies would only “partially comply” with information requirements.
South Korea’s Ministry of Finance said on Sunday that the South Korean government will consolidate its semiconductor supply chain partnership with the United States through communication.
