TCL introduced Thunderbird Smart Glasses Pioneer Edition
Thunderbird Innovation, a cutting-edge AR company produced by TCL Electronics, today released the first binocular full-color MicroLED holographic optical waveguide AR glasses-Thunderbird Smart Glasses Pioneer Edition. According to the officials, the Thunderbird team has concentrated on research and development for three years. Through self-developed light wave coupling analysis and optimization algorithms, it has achieved a balance in efficiency, dispersion, and mass production.
At the same time, it is the first to use high refractive index glass wafers, which greatly decreases with the critical angle of total reflection, large-angle light can also be transmitted by the waveguide. Finally, the optimal single-layer waveguide architecture has been developed, which is a key step in realizing the lightweight of AR glasses.

Besides, on the micro-display, the mainstream solutions include LCOS, DLP, silicon-based OLED, and MicroLED. Compared with other technical solutions, the biggest advantage of MicroLED is self-luminous, wide color gamut has high brightness, and the optical machine is small enough.
Thunderbird said that after repeated design and a large number of experiments, it has innovatively developed its own unique “full-color micro-display engine”, taking into account brightness and energy consumption, and finally realized full-color MicroLED and single-layer ultra-thin in the smallest size. The perfect combination of holographic optical waveguides.
Moreover, Thunderbird has not announced the price and time to come to market. It hopes to continue to provide global users with products that exceed everyone’s imagination in 3-5 years. In a world where reality and virtuality merge, everything is all-powerful, making imagination more real.
