Tesla cars to get AMD graphics just like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X
AMD, during the presentation of new products at the Computex 2021 exhibition, spoke about cooperation with Tesla. In fact, the head of the company Lisa Su (Lisa Su) confirmed what was said long ago: Tesla now uses AMD GPUs based on the RDNA2 architecture with a performance of about 10 TFLOPS.
Similar GPUs are used in the PlayStation 5 (10.3 TFLOPS) and Xbox Series X (12 TFLOPS) game consoles. However, not all Tesla electric vehicles have received new AMD platforms with RDNA2 graphics – they are used in the infotainment systems of the flagship Model S and Model X starting at $ 74,000.

Lisa Su noted that GPUs are turned on only when demanding applications are launched (like the game The Witcher 3), in other cases, the video core built into the APU is used.
In this, the logic of the system does not differ from the logic of a regular laptop, where a discrete GPU is included in the work only in games or, for example, during rendering, and most of the rest of the time is used by the GPU built into the central processor and consuming less power.
