TSMC already started planning the 1nm chip development but it looks like the company needs to rethink this plan. Although the Taiwanese chip maker is pacing ahead in building future technologies, it is facing issues with the location matter for its products.
As per the new revealings, TSMC selected a location for its first 1nm chip development, but this plan led to the relocation of some residents. On the other hand, residents of Longtan objected and as a result, the company is now looking for some other places.
Moreover, TSMC doesn’t want to build an advanced chip factory in the local residents and hence canceled the location in northern Taiwan. The company said it would work with the government-run Science Park Administration “to evaluate land in Taiwan suitable for building semiconductor fabs”. It did not mention potential alternative sites.
