At present, TSMC’s most advanced wafer processing technology is the 5nm process N5P, which is an upgraded version of N5. The A15 Bionic chip on the Apple iPhone 13 series is manufactured using this process, which is more energy-efficient. The report said that the name of the 3nm enhancement process has not been officially confirmed, and it is currently expected to be N3E.

According to official sources, TSMC’s 3nm process is expected to be mass-produced in the second half of 2022. If it goes well, Apple’s A16 Bionic chip is expected to be the first to use this process. There are rumors that Apple has preemptively won the order for TSMC’s 3nm process.

Moreover, Samsung also stated that the 3nm process technology plans to start mass production in June next year, and the official has confirmed that the process has a stable yield.
