The government said 5,000 public buildings would get faster speeds, including 1,200 schools, 340 libraries, and 50 hospitals. To upgrade these premises, the government will spend 164 million pounds. The hope is that the gigabit broadband expansion will make it easier for companies to deliver faster speeds to nearby homes and businesses.
Other public spaces that will receive gigabit broadband include GP clinics, council-owned offices, community centers, leisure centers, fire stations, and ambulance stations. The upgrade will take place across the UK to ensure the wider spread of gigabit broadband.
