VBS security function affects performance depravity in Windows 11
Microsoft’s Windows 11 operating system has been officially released, but according to a report by UL benchmarks, the system’s default Virtualization-based Security (VBS) “virtualization-based security” allowed by the system will cause gaming and running Sub-performance drops, up to 30%. In a fresh installation of Windows 11, VBS is set to on by default, and improving from Win10 will not turn on this feature.

Moreover, Microsoft said that if the feature is optional, then people will not take the initiative to open it. After the VBS function is turned on, even if a software/hacker obtains administrator-level permissions (the highest level of permissions), they still cannot read the content in this separate VM, which is more secure. This is exactly the same as the working principle of today’s cloud.
The following methods can detect whether the VBS function is enabled on the Windows 11/10 system:
1. Click the search button in the taskbar, or use the shortcut key “Win+S” to open the search function.
2. Type “MSInfo32” and click Enter.
3. In the pop-up “System Information” window, scroll down the list, you can see the ” Virtualization-based Security ” item, which is the VBS function.
Turn off the “Virtualization-based Security” function of Win10 and Win11
1. Shortcut Win+X to open the menu, select Windows Powershell (Administrator)
2. Type the following command, press Enter, and restart the computer to take effect.
bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
Furthermore, that you can turn off the VBS function by disabling technologies such as Windows virtualization in the Windows component, but this will cause applications that rely on virtualization technology, such as Hyper-V, VMWare, etc., to fail to run normally.
