According to the latest report, Microsoft initially announced a new application store for Windows 11 in June this year. Since then, the company has been working hard to improve the quality of its application store. As part of the Windows Insider Program, Microsoft has released some service updates, and users have tested the new app store on their devices for more than three months.
In the “What’s new for Windows” event, Microsoft explained that it rebuilt the Microsoft Store, adopted a new design, improved performance, and provided better support for developers. As expected, Microsoft finally brought its new Windows 11 application store to Windows 10 PCs, and it seems to be rolling out in phases.

If you are in the Release preview channel of the Windows Insiders program and are running Windows 10 version 21H2, you can now get a brand new app store by checking for updates in the Microsoft Store. For those users who are running non-Insider versions, you can manually install the new Microsoft Store through the following steps.
-
Download the updated version of the Microsoft Store from here. (Get the decompressed file)
-
Some users need to download Microsoft. UI.Xaml.2.7 first. (Get the decompressed file)
-
Turn on PowerShell administrator rights.
-
Use the cd command to navigate to the location of the Microsoft.UI.Xaml.2.7 file. For example, if the downloaded file is moved to the C drive, enter cd C:\.
The installation command is
Add - AppxPackage Microsoft . UI . Xaml . 2.7 _7 . 2109.13004 . 0 _x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe . Appx
-
Use the cd command to navigate to the location where you saved the Microsoft Store App update. For example, if the downloaded file is moved to the C drive, enter cd C:\.
-
Enter Add-AppxPackage <package name.msixbundle>.
In this case, the final command will be,
Add - AppxPackage Microsoft . WindowsStore_22110 . 1401.10 . 0 _neutral___8wekyb3d8bbwe . Msixbundle
The new Microsoft Store uses a redesigned interface on Windows 10. Compared with the current app store, it looks less cluttered, and the new store is based on XAML (UWP) code instead of WebView, so you can expect better performance, especially when the network connection is slow.
We will not analyze every small change in the Microsoft Store, but it is worth pointing out that the new app store in Windows 10 is faster than the old app store, and users can now quickly navigate between different pages.
Microsoft has also increased the download speed, and you will be able to easily manage the applications you have installed/owned from the new library.
In addition, Microsoft is also developing a new feature called “Story” for the App Store. This will allow developers to create editorial content to promote their apps and games and help users discover apps that motivate them to use their devices to achieve more goals.
This new Microsoft Store supports more types of applications, and it is open to all Windows developers. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not plan to bring the Windows Android subsystem to the Windows 10 application store.
At present, support for the Android subsystem will still be exclusive to the Windows 11 system, because it is one of the flagship features of the new operating system.
