Find My Device: Offline
- Pixel 8’s Find My Device can locate your phone even after it’s powered off.
- This is possible due to specialized Pixel hardware that can communicate with other devices and share location.
- To enable this feature, you need to turn on Find My Device with the network in either high-traffic or all areas.
Even if your Pixel 8 device is off or has no battery life, Google can still find it for a few hours. You’ll get a notification about it after setting up Find My Device on your Pixel 8.
This is helpful if you lose your phone or someone steals it. To make sure it works, turn on “Find My Device” in your phone settings. There are two options in the device Settings menut: “With network in high-traffic areas only” (default) or “With network in all areas” which might help find your phone faster.
Google says to keep Bluetooth turned on so they can find your phone easier. Google is also working on bringing it to other phones too!
To enable finding your offline device, open your phone’s Settings. Now tap on “Google” and then “All Services” (if available). From there, tap on “Find My Device” and then enable “Find your offline devices”.
